Thought I’d share an idea I came up with for fitting some useful hooks by the rear doors of our Peugeot Boxer PVC (AutoSleepers Symbol).
I didn’t want to drill into any of the conversion woodwork or the van itself so decided to utilize the parts of the two upper rear door catches that protrude into the inside of the van. These are the substantial looking catches secured to the van structure which are fabricated from 6mm diameter steel bar.
I chose a piece of hardwood and carefully filed location grooves on one face using a 6mm round file to correspond with the catches. I wanted the wooden batten to sit square so filed the grooves to suit the angle of the catches. This meant the grooves being 6mm deep at one edge of the batten and tapering off to nothing at the other edge (perhaps not necessary but a personal choice).
Then fabricated two clamping clips made from ¼” thick aluminum bar with corresponding tapered grooves to suit and added M5 tapped holes to the centre of each. Counterbored holes were then added to the wooden batten to suit M5 screws for clamping purposes, pilot holes for 5 hooks were drilled, put it all together as can be seen on the pictures with the aluminum clips clamping the batten in position.
Nice and strong, ideal for holding a hand towel, tea towel, bread bag and even a couple of jackets.
Hope this is of use to others with a similar set-up.
