Tow Bar fitting

Anyone know where either I could get a tow bar for our hymer (A564) fitted or perhaps where I could buy a second hand one which I could get fitted myself. Reasonable price hopefully.

Plenty of palaces supply them, but they are a specialist item, so quite expensive. That said you don't want to risk damage or a dangerous load, so it's best to deal with a specialist.

Phone Witter towbars they will put you onto a reliable installer.

We had ours fitted by Towtall in Stoke on Trent the other option was somewhere in Poole

It would be helpful if you said where abouts you are or which part of the UK you want it fitting in ?

I can recommend one in Freckleton just outside Preston, Lancashire but that might be several hundred miles from you and no good what so ever.

Just had Mike Parkinson fit one on my Eura mobil. It already had 'hefty plates' attached to the AlKo chassis rails from a previous towbar, and the 7 pin electric lighting plug was there, so towbar supply & fit only.....price £80 !

I've had the scooter rack on, and you could still anchor the Queen Mary to it, it's so solid.

An excellent job, thoroughly recommend him.

Thanks for your responses folks. I'm going to try these. I am in Kent but need the towbar so may have to wild somewhere in the area while it is being done. A good job is worth travelling for.

Got towbar fitted. I didn't make it clear at the start but it was a problem in that it was a towbar to carry a backbox. Can't use a roof box 'cos not enough room up there so the backbox has got to be supported on the towbar. Ball comes off and a plate goes on. Also long overhang on Hymer so support could have been a problem.

HOWEVER. Found a great place. Derbytowbars. Even though I had to leave at 4 am to get here for 7.30 for them to start the work they did the most excellent work. No-one else wanted to actually make the towbar - unless they could lift one off the shelf and fit - forget it mate. This is a small company, they fit standard towbars and because they are small are willing to go the extra mile for the business. Strongly recommended. They were able to do it in less than a day but told me that if it had run over I could wild on their forecourt. Could you ask for more. Also very reasonable price. If you need to contact them - Peter is your man. This company is such a good recommendation for the friendliness of the Midlands :cheers:

Yes, derbytowbars.co.uk. They are on the Meadows Industrial Estate but all the contact details are on the website. Just to make it clear - we have no connection with this company - found it by trawling the internet but it was one of the best finds we have made. We paid £385 and that was to have the towbar made and fitted. All done in half a day.

Backbox fitted and Portugal here we come - well shortly !
 
Just had a towbar fitted today by Mick Parkinson in Freckleton. An excellent job and very reasonably priced. Recommended.
