Off to see the first 6 stages of the tour which starts in LIEGE Belgium. However we are having a week in Germany first never been there before. On our way 21.6.12 not made our minds up where to go in germany but not to far from Liege as we want 2 nights there ready for prolog, looking for small towns and will use some campsites for a little chilling. any other campers following the tour

We are going a bit later than you and hope to catch a few mountain stages. Last time we did this we were adopted by some German cycle fans who insisted that we partake in their schnapps

I love the Tour.

I shall have to make do with the TV though.

Enjoy!

you probably already now but the moutain stages are very busy, tourmalet bing one of them, to get good spots you would need to be there 3 to 4 days before it gets there.
we are doing the the first 6 stages but going a week early to visit germany.

Who else is going to tour-de- france i do see lots of brits every year we go, by the way the tour mag is out good detail with maps cost £10 well worth it.

Were planning a stage or two in the Pyrenees....probably Col du Tourmalet ;)
We should be down that neck of the woods a good few days before they arrrive.

Was at Alpe d'Huez last year...now that was busy!!!

We did alpe d-huez couple years back now known as the dutch hill as the first rider to win there.
there 3 days before tour got there we had a blast realy friendly people would go again one day

I've fond memories of following Le Tour in 1995 - in a VW BayWindowed Camper filled literally with 6 adults and a 6 month old baby! Amazingly, she didn't miss a beat even over the Cols and up d'Huez.

Very jealous of those heading over this year!

maybe one day you will go back, I do like the coverage of the tour on eurosport although understanding sean Kelly can be difficult strong irish accent, ITV4 r also covering high lights not to bad.
