Totalcool 3000 portable evaporative air cooler - do they work?

Saw this product being demonstrated at the NEC show. Don’t know if any forum members have one of these or something similar to help keep the van cool.

The question is if you have one do they work and help to keep the van cool?

Online reviews are mixed with both 5* and 1* ratings. And some of the low priced alternatives get better reviews and ratings than the Totalcool 3000 product.

As I trust forum members to be honest with their thoughts what do you think if you have one?

Yes they do, but don’t expect it to be like aircon or you’ll be disappointed

In low ambient humidity they can be slightly effective ...

In the UKs usual higher humidity ...not very effective .

We had a domestic similar a couple of times, they had an aspen mat inside which had to be kept wet and a fan blew through it, 100w to run it quite effective and cheap to buy.

Very much like the Transcool unit we have in so much looks like a copy.
The Transcool is made in Australia ( for trucks in the outback originally) and works very well in a small space, like the front half of our 7.5 motorhome . We got ours because at the time we had 3 bulldogs with us..it is still in use and still works well.
