Too Much solar?

Hope it's OK for this to be my first post?

We will be picking up a 2009 Triango Tribute 650 in a couple of weeks and I am at the planning stage :). It has 3 transverse mounting rails that I intend to use for solar panels. We had a Benimar (1999) motorhome a good few years ago and I know we used a fair bit of battery power. That one had an 80watt solar panel that was fine in summer but the other seasons not great. We like going to the motorhome shows and noticed that some are still on so that's 4days off grid we would like to cover.

So I am thinking that if I can get 2 x 110AH lead acid battery in I would like to use an appropriate Victron mppt controller with maybe 400watts of solar panels. I realise that in summer sun our batteries will be charged very quickly but I'm hoping that by having 400watts of solar we will still get decent charge in the less sunny months.

Question is is 400 watts of solar too much for 220Ah of leisure batteries.

Thanks for any help and advice you can provide.

Unless I'm told otherwise, you can't have too much solar. The system will only take want it wants.
Just remember that the last part of Lead Acid charging is slow despite the panels on the roof.
