A question for fairtooth.
When I connected my tomtom up to my computer to update it some thing went wrong now when I switch it on I get a list of writing and one of them has a red box around it inside the read box it reads
Sector protection: No
other than throwing it against a wall do you have any suggestion.

I have a Garmin which has a reset button, i'm sure most of them do.

Looked for reset button but there is not one

The reset button will not be a button as such. it will more than likely just be a hole in the side and you will have to use a toothpick or similar to press in it. If that makes sense?
Hang in there and FT will be along sometime and he will put you right.

Try this Reset

Check that the battery is charged properly.
Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.

Reset your device.
Press and hold the On/Off button until your device restarts. This takes at least 20 seconds.

Saw something on the news yesterday regarding tomtom's.
Mine (Live XL) went funny and would not lock onto any sats.
Then had an email regarding mandatory update which after connecting said xl to computer and a short download later, went outside and the thing worked well.
Ok again today.
Keep a map handy!!
