Hi, i want to upgade my sat nav, and have seen tomtom xxl for sale which looks quite good ,any body own one or know something about them, i want to be able to input map grid references many thanks BAZ.

We have the Xl and it has been good so far (had it a year), you are able to input co ordinates, postcodes, addresses etc and can also download the wild camping POI onto the card.....hope this helps, Lel

I've got two (because it was just as cheap to buy a new one on-line with US maps that I needed as buy just the maps in Australia) and find them easy to use. Any GPS is only as good as the maps they get from third parties and they are not really set up to keep middle-size motorhomes out of places they shouldn't go so they need a bit of sensible manual overrides at times.

Don't know of any that you can input grid references just GPS co-ordinates this site though will allow you to convert map reference values to GPS co-ords CO-ORDINATE CONVERTER found it useful to get the exact location of sites from the Camping & Caravan Club's book which list them as OS ones.

I don't think that sound quality on our new TomTom XL is as good as our original TT Go

Had ours for awhile, it is good but seems slow sometimes (seems to lag when going around roundabouts) and the sound is a bit rubbish, voice makes me laugh pronouncing some European towns. Obviously much better than maps but next time I get a new sat nav will look at the other cheaper options out there as tomtom is looking at restricting some of the add ons you can currently use.
