Tom Tom glitch

My Tom Tom via is playing up when I touch the screen to type a letter in , it adds the letter next to the one I want so I have to delete it and try again, I have to touch the screen slightly right of the letter or digit I want to appear, it is as if the screen is slightly out of alignment with the type pad?
I like Tom Tom very much and have two other older editions , it is probably time for a new Sat Nav ,but I am torn between getting another Tom Tom or trying something like Garmin, we all have our favourites I know but any suggestions would be welcome, I do not need height or length settings or phone connections etc just a good basic Sat Nav to get me around, with full mapping for Europe and free updates as I get with my Tom.

Well I have just connected Tom to computer and message said all up to date, so guess that is OK ?

my tom tom is 7 years old, worked fine until Saturday, ...
driving from Orleans to Rouen, the display was completely wonky,

showed I was driving through green fields mostly, but got me to my destination.
after the update, it looks like I'm back in the saddle again.

Try using the end of a pen rather than your finger and see if that helps ...
