Our grandson is nearly 9 months old. Next year we are thinking of taking him away with us on a short break to give his parents a break. How do others keep their little ones safely tucked up for the night. Our Herald Templar has an overcab bed but I wouldn't dream of putting him up there, too easy for him to climb over/ squeeze around the safety net. Was thinking of some sort hammock with solid base for a mattress swung between the cab doors. There isn't enough floor space to erect the travel cot. What have others done? if anything? Or did you wait 'til the little darlings were big enough to go to the toilet on their own.:p :)

What a good idea!!!

If you're handy with a needle and thread you can make a hanging cot for the baby. I used an old cotton windbreak for the fabric, caravan bunk-bed stretcher poles fed through the top, a piece of hardboard for the base kept the whole thing in shape, and I bought a piece of foam cut to size at the local market. It did the job, and even rocked gently to help her get to sleep. Oh yes, hubby saw to the brackets to locate the bunk poles into. I guess it depends if you are willing to attach things to your motorhome or not. Ours was an old camper so it didn't matter.

We used an Ambi baby hammock for our 7week old fella this weekend, we have a loop that t susspends from the ceiling, his first trip out in the van and very very cold so he ended up in with us.

I like this one, would never have thought of that. Will have to get one to fit a Labrador though as Nathan was 10lb born and almost fits his travel cot now! :D

Thanks to everyone else who has replied. It always needs someone else looking in from the outside to solve a problem:) ;) .

Have always took are three children away since born, with no problems.Been in tents ,caravans and motor homes. We used our buggy, it had different tops ,so the carry cot,use to sit on side or the floor. Is yours a travel cot on legs, can you not get one that will fit across your front seats have seen this before.Have you not got a single ,you could make your own gaurd.Sure you will sort something out ,get them out they will enjoy,i am sure.

hammocks

Hi
When we had our old Vdub our kids slept in the hammocks when they were little, you could buy a hammock for the cab from drivers door to passenger door. You can get them from the vw campervan web site (just campers). I am sure they could be adapted for wider vans.

You could always employ The Adams family tactics!!!!:D
Tie them up so they can't move!!!:D :D
Gag them!!:D :D Keeps it quiet!!:D
Cable tie their hands together so they can't touch anything!!:D

When we take our grandson away with us grandad got to sleep in the awning, but with a over head cab bed put one adult up there and the little one in bed with you. Its only for the weekend and if its cold you know he or she will be warm. :D
