Why is it so dear to travel to Ireland/Northern Ireland when you can go to france for under £50-oo return, something wrong with this mad country. Dont they want our money to go back into the Local economy, perhaps if they dropped their prices we would come out of recession much quicker. Todays rant over and done with:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Simple answer - Competition and volume.

Went to the Outer hebrides last year with Calmac, and the ferry price was over £100 cheaper than the previous year, so looks like the Pirate's been robbed:D
Would'nt have gone otherwise.
Same needs to be done with the Irish Ferries.

Happy Camping:)

I read somewhere that the ferry co's make a lot of added profit with duty free, booze, fags, casinos etc on the cross channel routes so they can afford to offer some cheaper deals for the crossing rather like Ryan Air offers cheap flights and then makes money off extras. I think the profits from duty free sales are less on the Irish routes.

Sorry!...ouch!...Don't hit me! I will leave quietly.:D:rolleyes:

I don't think duty free exists any more on ships to France and Ireland,as they are all in the EU. However try crossing to the Isle of Man!!!

The steam racket ferry company !!!

I always wanted to go to a TT meeting on the island but stories of ferry prices local profiteering when you get there, I have never bothered.

It seems people are prepared to pay it, so I guess little will change, So in the meantime I will go to France, and have a far longer sabbatical for the same money.
