Whils't watching Price drop on the telly a few days ago. Up came a sat nav with a 7 1/2" screen. They say it's for truckers and motorhomes, but just as good in the car. As there were only twenty, it started at £500 and they sold five. Dropping slowly in price to £225 when there were a couple left. Didn't know what to do as I have a couple of sat nav's already. So misssed it, then had a re-think, so looked on ebay. Two came up, one at £179. and another at £139. So as they were all the same I chose the cheapest one. It's just quickly arrived, with its box of goodies included, and is on charge, so can't tell how it performs yet. Looks very good value, really pleased, and the size is perfect for my short sightedness, blasted old age. Ideal for us Tog's without the glasses for reading, and what a good price. The unit is a Garmin 7200 street pilot, and has lots of functions including an MP3 player. The ebay No. at present is item No. 390185822128. So if you think it's for you, they have a few left.

When Garmin announced the Nuvi 5000 (5 inch screen) I thought the same as you. It too was described as for Trucks and RVs. Bought one of the first models in the UK, as we had to wait from placing the order, for the shipment to come in.

Great screen for viewing but it is essentially the same software as any other Garmin with no provision to enter vehicle dimensions or anything else usefully for Trucks and RVs.

Low Bridges and other POIs have to be sourced and loaded as Extras.

I find the ball mounting swivels the screen out of view on bumpy UK roads. The head can also bounce off the mount with jolts such as speed humps.

just read the info and you can connect a dvd player, me thinks reversing camera might be better

Hi John, this one is definetly better. No swivels on it, and locks on the back in the holder really strong. Tried to pull it off but it won't move. The base has a lock on it as well. That too seems to be unmoveable, but it can be unscrewed and mounted on a vertical surface as well. So they must have learned from your model. degzie is right about the reversing camera, just checked in the book. Needs a DR cable fitted and it comes on when reverse is selected. Also it plays video's through it, and the traffic information optional extra seems a good buy. It has a detour around facility and a colour severity code to show traffic intensity. You are probably right about the low bridges John, and is states that POI are available from various companies. But I haven't got that on mine anyway. Any probs and I will follow up this thread. Hope it's of help, Rgd's Graham.

Sounds like they have gone back to the design of the Old Street Pilot III that I have as well as my MPH speed indicator (Speedo in KPH).

The do models with variable info but in 3.5 inch screens not the big ones. It doesn't make sense to me.
