Tintagel, Cornwall. £3 pitch.

Used to be able to park for free in Tintagel, but new buildings have sprouted since we were there. The good news is a nice car park and level grass area has a £3 per night fee for a motorhome. It is beyond the National Trust Old Post Office and round the corner past the delicious pastie making shop. Very close to all amenities. Nice open views.

Thanks for the info - I've added this to the POI Downloads :)

very M/H friendly town

Besides being a lovely town to visit Tintagel must be the most M/H friendly town in Cornwall, possibly whole of England.

You can stay officially overnight in nearly all the carparks. King Arthur's Arms Carpark £3.50p. Mayfair Carpark £3.00. The carpark opposite the visitor centre (not sure the cost). The council carpark at the visitor centre is free between 4pm and 9am. and the one you just added!

Also the wild spot I posted a while back by St. Materiana's Church. Also wild spot around by the youth hostel (never tried this location myself, road is a bit bumpy!)

Years ago it was only King Arthur's Arms Carpark that a self contained Motorhome could stay overnight and the council tried to stop the owner from doing it, but because he had a caravan site license for a previous use of the land they could not stop him. I think all the other carparks unofficially followed suit, unless the council relented and allowed them? I know Andy C had a conversation with the owner about it a long time ago as it was one of the first "official" overnight M/H places.:D

Its very nice in fact, and the pasties are top notch.

I would have added this myself but didn't because you have to pay and didn't think this was allowed in the database.

BTW it says 24 hour parking so it starts from the time you buy your ticket. We had a nice peacful night there and there is also a great Itallian restaurent just over he road.

From memory we had good 3G connection there on the 3 network.

Watch out for the old geezer who lives overlooking this car park... (if his blood pressure hasn't killed him) If you park on his bit of tarmac (halfway along and to the right as you look out on to the road) You'll likely get a stream of abuse. I parked on his bit in 2007 and I quote " GET ORRF THR WHTHEFECKNELLDYATHNKYERDOIN YA BGGR. WTRYA DOIN, BLAH BLAH BLAH, PARK IN TH BAYS YA FCKN BGGR. JST LAIDAFCKN THNG GERRORRFF.” came steaming from his upstairs window....It was my first night of wild camping too!

It was a pound in those days!

This is my Airedale. The youngest one. He's not that big, it's just perspective.

We love Tintagel, go there every year. Spent 2 days and nights there at end August this year on the carpark the other end opposite the tourist information (the carpark on the TI had restrictions) The toilets next to the TI were not locked overnight while we were there which was good (not sure if that was because it was out of season?) We payed for a ticket for overnight and daytime but never saw anyone checking, probably could have got away with not paying for the overnight but we still prefer to pay.
Lovely place, great coastal walks and the pub oppoiste the Old post office is dog friendly inside and out .

If you have bulk tanks then book in for a night at Headlands caravan site. They have good facilities for emptying off. This is what we do when we use the Tintagel car parks.
