The new MH has a large Thule back box on a carrier and I am looking to make the box more secure as the fitted lock is pretty flimsy. The lid overhangs the base by approx 3cm all round, so, the standard hasp and staple wouldn't work. I could buy an angled hasp and staple which should do the job but I am wandering if anyone has any other ideas?

I always think when you start doing hash’s ,ropes with padlocks it sends out the signal yoo hoo I’ve got xaluables in here break me open
I have a similar set up new lock, and my genie goes in there in bad weather ,external screen ,but what I have is a cycle padlock with rope and padlock it to the grille inside ,if they want in they will get in its only a glass fibre material at the end of the day
Hope this helps or makes sense.

Here’s mine ,I remove the box in summer for cycles to go on BF6E2CD0-61B3-4694-BAEF-39F417A6CB6C.jpg

I put hasp and staples on mine, I will take a picture tomorrow and upload it, I did mine for a different reason though, my bike rack is above the box so I cannot open the lid, I removed the hinges and fitted the hasp and staples at the top so now my lid just lifts away
I bought two of these and they bend easily enough to fit

Right posh gift you are terry ,full frontal removal ! Saucy man ooooh!

I have one its a somewhat flimsy box made from injection molded plastic (not fibreglass) you could put the most secure padlock known to man on it and it would still take a thief about 10 seconds to get in - a strong knife should do -just cut away the side!

Make any attempt to reinforce it and you may as well put a large neon sign on it saying 'valuables inside' - I dont lock mine so they can take the contents without trashing the box, the contents are worth significantly less than the box!

If you want a strong box I suggest you get rid of the Thule and get one welded up from aluminium checkerplate - but even then if they can break into safety deposit boxes you luggage carrier will present them with no headaches
