I have a Thule awning and a tie down kit however I have lost one of the pieces of it: it's the part that actually goes into the awning leg in order to attach the strap.

I have contacted Thule who simply advised that they don't do spare parts and I would prefer not to buy a whole new kit.

I was wondering if any of you folks had a broken/incomplete kit that is gathering dust, that you would be willing to butcher for me? There's a virtual beer (or even a real one if we ever meet up) in it for you

Pics of the piece below: it's the bit on the black strap...

Thanks

That is the solution unless I can get my hands on a proprietary piece.

You might find something suitable in a good old-fashioned hardware shop.
Or cannibalise something from millets or go outdoors.

I'll see what comes of this post first then give you a shout if I may.

I have managed to make one out of an old spanner of all things. I suspect that it came with some furniture years ago. Luckily it was rigid enough steel (c.1mm) to be strong enough for its new use. I cut the end off with an angle grinder and took the burrs off with my bench grinder. Then drilled a 6mm hole followed by forming it in the vice with a hammer.

I'm quite pleased with the result but we'll see if it works next time out with the MH. Otherwise I'll be taking up the kind offer of having one made by Wrightpm above ;)

Ha ha well done - looks as good as the original part. I don't think you will be needing me ;-)
