Hy all, I left my fridge on gas the other day by accident while i was on a run, now it doesnt go cold, but the pilot light comes on, as you can see it in the corner, the outlet is clear, have not tried it on mains or 12volts yet, as i use it on gas mostly, can anyone help me out, its a bit of a job to take it out many thanks in advance

Sorry - got me puzzled. Just spent half an hour googling it but have come up with no suggestions. Sorry, but hope you get it sorted!

you may have to clean the chimney. i used to run with mine on gas all the time only switched it off when changing bottle. but it could be a dirty flue . i only stopped as when in maroc the temp got so high outside it stopped working. it wasnt a tropical just a run of the mill 3 way.

re fridge

The flue is fine, very clean, this was the first and only thing ive checked so far

so while you had the fridge out to check the flue did you turn the fridge upside down ?

Ammonia Gas

If it does NOT have a compresser then it will be a Ammonia Gas fridge, they have a problem of silting up inside. You may clear the problem by turning it up side down for a few hours and then switch it back on. Only do this if it was Ammonia Gas, as it will damage a compressor type fridge. This may clear the fault but if you know its heat source is working (sometimes 12/240v heater fitted as well as gas) then it is not worth repairing. Most manufacturers scrap them and exchange it if there is a gas issue, though someone on a site claimed to know someone does regas them.

The fridge works by compressing the Ammonia gas using a heat source, when allowed to expand in the evaporator inside, cooling is achieved and then the cycle starts again!

OK - first step is to see if it runs on 240V, if it does n't then you've isolated (75% chance)the fault to the boiler/ammonia system.

If it works on 240V then you need to go hunting for other faults.

I've got a Dometic/Electrolux fault finding manual that I'm happy to email, you'll need to give your email address in a PM or in a response in this thread.

Fixed

My apologies to those that have submitted their help for not responding sooner.
I went to scotland 3 weeks ago for two weeks, 2.5k miles in the old merc and no probs at all, I thought i would try the fridge another time before i ripped it out, and guess what, it works perfectly, the problem is, its going to be one of those things on the back of my mind everytime I go anywhere, winters coming, so the milk can stay outside.

ps i installed the fridge so that all the wires etc are easily seen to, i put it facing forward, and i just got to open the back door to get at everything, ile have to load some photos of it soon, but havnt fthomed the resize of photos on here yet
