Does anyone know if I follow the following 'Feel at Home' instructions, will I be able to gain internet access via a mobile router, ie, TP Link or Huwaii router connected to my iPad? Has anyone got an mobile wifi router and done this successfully. Every year I have the same problem and have to buy a sim for each country so if this works it will save a lot of time and money.

Please read this cut and paste instruction:

Three's Feel At Home* feature allows pay-as-you-go users who've bought an add-on package, to use their UK allowances in 18 countries at no extra charge (so long as they call only UK numbers; don't use it to call the restaurant down the street from your hotel).

Applicable locations include the US, Australia, Hong Kong and a whole host of European countries, plus others (see the full list). Any calls, texts and data used will come from your UK allowance, although you'll be charged international rates for contacting foreign numbers. You'll get access to 3G data only when abroad.

How to get Feel at Home with a free PAYG Sim

If you're not a Three customer but want to grab its free roaming, it's possible to add it to a free pay-as-you-go Sim.

- Step 1: Order a free PAYG Sim from the Three website – it'll work in any unlocked 3G or 4G phone, and using it in the UK costs 3p per minute for calls, 2p per text and 1p per MB. You can also buy one in-store – it normally costs £1, but the fee's waived if you top up at the same time. You will need to top up with a minimum of £10.

- Step 2: To use Feel at Home, you'll then need to use your credit to buy a Three add-on bundle of calls, texts and data. They cost from £5 to £25 – as an example, £15 will get you 300 minutes, 3,000 texts and all-you-can-eat data. To do this, log into your My 3 account, or call 333 using your new Sim.

- Step 3. Feel at Home will then work automatically when you arrive in any of the 18 countries. You'll be able to use the allowance in your add-on the same way you can in the UK. Remember, though, if you're travelling outside the 18 included countries, you won't be able to use your add-on allowance and will have to pay standard international call charges.

I have recently bought a £17 Sim only plan for your phone.
All you can eat data, 200 mins ..

After using it for a few days in my Mifi it was blocked, had to put it back in the phone and it tethered OK from there this was in the UK. Have been trying out different SIMS to get the best data service and price.

AFAIK, tethering is included up to 4GB per month. Then it will stop.

I have a phone contract with 3 with all you can eat data and it was diabolical in France last year, most of the time I could only get a phone signal and when I could get data the speed was so slow it wasn't worth using.
