This weekend was going in gladys to watch George race.
Then my son decides that the old eggcup (caravan ) needed renewing to a larger version without a spongy floor.
and a change of venue meaning a early saturday set off
My sister has returned home and I wanted a lie in tomorrow as back at work Monday after 10 days off. (still had to be up in mornings (6.30) for george ( I do the early stint before the childminder)
Anyway I am waffling so back on track so to speak.
Going to Preston Dock ??????
Sorry to say going in the car later on Saturday and staying the night in their Caravan so as my daughter in law says I can police it on Sunday (she is marshalling) No one allowed in with muddy clothes etc.

Looked at his outfit White transit van and medium size caravan would not be allowed on Camping and caravan club sites but if he used his audi and caravan they would wlcome him with open arms
:eek::eek:

I am also going to try out my dongle :eek::eek:

I am watching bbc 2 U 2 at the moment as well

Excuse my ignorance but what does george race? and is George a he or she?

Nice pics Polly, like the 2nd one, I wouldn't want to do his washing !! great to see kids doing things outside, instead of being stuck indoors on PCs, Play Stations etc.

Regards Tom (On my PC)

been there, done that, miss it like crazy!!!

hi Polly

I thought so but needed clarification before 'diving in'

I had 7 wonderfull years taking my 2 sons to race and practice tracks all over the place (they have both stopped racing about 4 years ago).

They were older than George when they began. It all started when I bought Stewart a 20yrs old 'small wheel' RM80 for his 12th birthday and spent 4 weeks hiding it at the back of the garage whilst i resprayed it and did some repairs to make it 'presentable'. His younger brother Mathew then mithered for a bike but we got him a malaguti auto as he was younger by a few years. We used to go practising on the local 'coal spoils' but the 'off road police' have put paid to that. I had road bikes myself until getting married in 1976 to Margaret ('we' needed a car then and as they ventured futher and further away from me on the 'rucks' i thought it was 'prudent' for me to buy a crosser myself "so i can look after them luv". I wasn't very good but really enjoyed being out with the boys but all that changed as we returned from a weeks holiday in Wales to be met by our next door neighbour saying that the bikes had been stolen whilst we were away and no-one knew how to get hold of us. I wouldn't care but mine (CR250) had just been lovingly restored and had a rebuilt engine and Stewart had just become the 'very' proud owner of a KX80 which he was supposed to start racing the week after the holiday. We lost everything as they weren't insured and the household policy didn't cover them and it took another 12 months hard work to get enough money together for a 'race bike' for Stewart. I never got another off-roader but we managed to get Mathew a 'race-bike' a few months later so he could join his brother on the track at race meetings. We did most of our racing in the North west AMCA group with the Leigh motocross club but Stewart won the the 125cc Junior Championship on his 'big-wheel' honda 85cc (tuned by Steve Clitheroe). He progressed steadily into the 125's (and 250 4 strokes) becoming quite a good 'senior' well on his way to soon becoming an 'expert' class rider, he raced in the KWS series but he always found it tough against the ACU lads as they (like George) start racing so young and become very good, very early in life!! It was 'then' (around 18yrs old) that he discovered beer and girls.

In the end i had to say to him that if he didn't give it his full commitment he was going to get seriously hurt, these boys don't hang about on the track as you will know when you watch the older lads in between George's races. About 4 weeks later he decided to quit. His brother Mathew carried on for about another 12 months before 'lack of progress' made him lose interest and he also 'retired'.

That was 4 years ago:)

Myself and Margaret were at a loose-end after dropping Mathew and his then girlfriend off at Blackpool pleasure beach with all day to 'hang around' to ferry them home later in the day (dad's taxi) so I suggested to Margaret that we have a browse around the motorbike shop (near the airport), i was admiring this green bike when the saleman suggested i "try it for size" , i was tempted but I'm not a Kwacker lover so i declined but as we looked around Margaret asked if i would like a road bike for myself 'now that the lads have packed in racing'. "yes please" i said and that started the ball rolling, only about 3 weeks later i got my 1st road bike for 28years :eek::eek: a beautifull Aprilia RSV Mille.

I love my wife;)

For those still reading......

I have had these bikes in the last 4 years of road riding

Aprilia RSV Mille
Honda VFR800 Vtec
Aprilia RSV-R
Honda Super Blackbird
Honda Pan Euro

and currently my 08 Aprilia Tuono R which i will now be keeping seeing as we have commited the next 5 years to paying for our 'new' (to us) MH

Those 7 years were brilliant but 'very' expensive:eek: come to think of it...

they both 'retired' when they started work and had to pay for their OWN bikes and repairs:confused:

KIDS... don't you just love-em:):):)

well till next time I go
George came 6th overall I am so proud of him not just for coming 6th but staying on his bike and he enjoys it.

Inbetween the racing the kids just play together on their bmx's or in some dirt with toy motorbikes (last night we rigged up a flueresent light so they could carry on playing with their toys)

This is what you call the outdoor life

Well done Polly ,loved the pics;):)

BTW in one of the early pics, George is the double of his proud Nana:rolleyes::)
