Review found on Parking 4 Nite

“ Very quiet site to be stolen your business in less than an hour, a lot of space. Right next to the Olympic Stadium. A very good place to stay overnight if you do not need your things anymore “

Don’t think we will bother ..

Have amended the above. I just thought it was a rather funny review of a site near Barcelona Olympic Stadium.

Being a well known avoider of the dreaded campsites, Barcelona is the only area where I go against my religion.

One has to be "off their rocker" to wild camp or use aires in the vicinity.

I would second that Spigot. I don't go near cities in my van, I usually save them for a nice little fly and back pack in the cooler months. Rural villages and towns are better and preferably with a few other vans nearby if you are going to leave your van for any time.

The A7 around Barca is always being piped up as "dangerous, risky" and it
well may be when comparing the number of incidents occurring on or near it
with those of other similar sized conurbations. But but but, you have to consider
that throughout the year hundreds of thousands of people park, camp, restup
on the A7 or in the vicinity if say one in a thousand campers post of their negative experience
then it's bound to give it notoriety, possibly not fully justified.
Statistically is there really a greater chance of being done over
on the A7 than there would be elsewhere? I'm not so certain.
After all if you're the only one in some "safe" aire outside a quiet village and the local
cretin/gasser decides to berserk he doesn't have a lot of choice.

Apart from my sister having her van done over in Bilbao, the many other reports of robberies come from the Barcelona area.

Having driven many 1000s of miles in Spain over the last 60 years, this was the only area in which I have been targeted. Leaving Barcelona, driving on a dual carriageway, I noticed a beat up Citroen behind, it made no attempt to overtake which I thought was unusual for Spanish drivers, it was following for several km.
I noticed a Lidl store ahead & signalled to turn right, the car behind did the same, I pulled up alongside the store & sat in the van. The other car passed me & went round the rear of the store, I gave it a couple of minutes & followed. Two thuggish looking types had emerged from the car & were glaring at me as I took a photo with my phone, they were definitely not Spanish, probably Eastern European. I continued my journey with no problems.
