This is odd and sad.

worked in Portugal making gas installations in holiday lets safe.
most bathrooms and some kitchens had flush airtight doors and most bathrooms had no window .
too many stories of course ,but one i wont forget , a
woman out in the pool heard a noise indoors coming from the bathroom. Her husband was unconcious in the bath and as she leant over to pull him out the gas got to her too and thats how they were both found. It can happen that quickly.

Carbon monoxide is sneaky. Cant see it or smell it. First signs are feeling drowsy. Lived in a rented house in France a while back and lit the open fire, felt drowsy and fortunately noticed the gas boiler flames coming from under it. Someone had previously wallpapered over the air vents in the walls. Cant be too careful with gas.
