...But it would be good if something went right:

My October last year trip with my best chum was cancelled cos his wife was ill

The New Year trip was cancelled cos my wife got flu

Our trip to Kent in April ended up in a mud bath, topped off with sodden wellies and a permanently damp dog

Our trip to Northumberland in May was cancelled cos I had to see a specialist

Our trip to France in July will be cancelled cos I need an op mid June which will bugger it up

But, and this is why I’m not complaining - I’m luckier than lots of people: my nasty bout of the big C was sorted out two years ago. Many people aren’t so lucky.

Moral: enjoy every day. Cheers 🥂

Part of getting older bits start wearing out or failing. We had a sailing holiday booked and paid for an SWMBO got a Gaul stone stuck. That messed up the plans. Last year it was Mole Gate and a suspicious mole on her back had to be removed delaying our departure. I keep getting ear infections so got a few packs of antibiotics in the medical kit. Legs don’t work as they should so get round on an electric bike. Always something going wrong.

As you say could be worse at least we are still here.

Try a spell not planning, just grab the keys and set off. Then again starter battery could fail I suppose, if it is meant to be it will happen who knows what bad things you could have missed when a trip is cancelled :)

Nabsim I try not to plan anything where possible I just pack and go! But Malcolm he plans things and nine times out of ten they go wrong.
