Looks like you cannot ban one type of vehicle without specific permission of a higher authority and councils have been doing that all over the country.
Certainly how it reads . Only skimmed through it .
Many debates on here about fines and tickets etc
Common response from quite a few is just pay it .
This is a prime example of why you should use the appeal system

I won an appeal with the attached argument when my car was ticketed by a local council based on their photos taken by a camera car driving past. I argued that I only stoped to read the parking restriction sign which the council could not disprove.

VERY INTERESTING: I wonder if this applies to any other signs across the country?

Gordon
It applies to all of them. The Secretary of State for Transport does not discriminate between motorhomes and cars and the councils nor any other bodies with land to which the public have access may not discriminate either. I was in communication with Andy Strangeways who is an avid campaigner for the removal of these signs and keep a copy of this article in my wagon and a sign in my windscreen suggesting that if any spurious attempts to "fine" me are made there will be a charge of £200 from me to them. Have a look on the Andy Strangeways web site. Always appeal and refuse to pay, in writing. Do not ignore.

Is it legal to ban all overnight parking? So no cars either.....the mention of specific vehicles, I understand, but from the first post it seemed that ALL vehicles can be banned but not specific ones like caravans/ motorhomes.

No that sign that Andy had removed mentions all vehicle for overnight so they can not do theses things. Remember the law for us is that statute has to ban what we want to do to stop us but for official bodies it has to allow what they want to do. Most council officers seem not to realise this or ignore it assuming that we will not know this.
