Things that really cheese me off -Number One

People who say “Well, that's what spoils it for the rest of us.”

Apart from petulant, whinging, “It's not fair,” nonsense, what do you get from it? Makes you feel good, maybe, that you aren't one of those spoiling it for the rest of us? Makes you feel all avuncular and wise? Makes you think you are dispensing useful advice to those of us who disagree with you? Makes you feel good?

Yeah, well – all of that I guess but there's something you definitely don't get from it. You don't get anything done! You don't identify a problem. You don't come up with a solution.

So why do you do it?

John Thompson tells us that wild camping is to be banned around Loch Lomond. Immediately, “idiots spoiling it for the rest of us”. No research. No thought. Just, it's not fair.

Well, a little research shows it's drunken anti-social yobs and the no wild camping rule won't do anything about them whatever the idiot council thinks. It might cure the council's problem temporarily but the drunken yobs will still go somewhere and they'll come back when the heat dies down.

You, the whingers, and the council, stupid council led by stupid councillors, haven't done anything constructive. Stupid because they might not have the legal right to ban wild camping and they might not be able to enforce it because they might not have been given the power to overrule Parliament. All it might take, is one of us to defy them, challenge them, say, “You don't have this right, prosecute me.” and they might well be found wrong. Seventy Percent of the time, nationally, they are wrong. Already, one Scottish MP has accused this council of mis-using Bye-laws. And yet, we whinge. And when one of us does defy them, we'll say that person is “spoiling it for the rest of us.”

Comments, please?

The thing is-that to many people they'll just find somewhere else to park up for the night-scotland is a wash with places to camp.

Yes I know it's the thin edge of the wedge and if we let "them" do this then what will be next??

But most people have more important things to think about and worry about, than the removal of an area of wild camping. Most people wouldn't want to put themselves in a position of ending up in court. One because of the stressed cause, but also if they lost and ended up with court costs, etc etc.

I think that it is good that people such as John tell us that is has been stopped but it is up to all who are really interested to do our own research as to the reasons behind it.

So some people such as myself read this forum and would read say John's posting and think something about it-a little peed off the local council has done this but move on quickly and post nothing.

While others will feel quite strongly about it and post “Well, that's what spoils it for the rest of us.” so what wrong with that? You can either chose not to read the post? or if you wanted to drive up there or down there (not sure where you are based) parked and defy them-see what happens??

To feel empowered in such a way is a truely wonderful feeling, and too win is the best feeling of all-no court costs, no longer worried about losing your job, and in my case stopped something from been built.

Many-no! in fact most poeple will stand their ground and fight for something they really believe in, but parking spot next Loch Lommond? no I'd drive on up the road and find somewhere else to park-bigger fish to fry.

what cheeses me off is the wife always leaves the spoon in my tea cup  it poke's me in the eye every time just because she's too idle to take it out

For me it's the two women in our house who comtinually leave the toilet seat down.:)

and the spell checker aint not working either. Or is it iether?

The thing that cheeses me off is people who moan about people that moan life is to short (for some of us any way) every one has an opinion and entitled to air it, whether we take notice and react to it is down to us.

Just a few points gentlemen.

It is not a local council that has done this but it is the Scottish Parliament. This area was designated as a National Park so it is that body not a local council that will control activities and planning.

This has been done as a result of cheap alcohol and camping equipment been sold in supermarkets.

The Yobs buy booze and pick up a tent and sleeping bags in supermarkets in Glasgow. They go to these places to booze and take drugs. They get stoned and next day they leave everything behind them. Some have been know to set fire to the camping equipment in situ.

The law in Scotland allows wild camping in tents away from civilisation and roads. It is this law that has been amended. Motorhomes/Campervans do not have any right to wild-camp in Scotland, just as in the rest of the UK.

I would expect that the National Park will clamp down on everyone initially. It is only a nine mile stretch of the bank on the east of the loch that is affected. Loch Lomond is 26 miles long.

I'm sure you're right and I apologise for my misinterpretation of the following quote:

QUOTE
"If ministers approve these byelaws we will examine the opportunities for legal challenge,” Dennis Canavan, the former MSP and convenor of Ramblers Scotland, told the Sunday Herald.

“We cannot allow the integrity of our land reform legislation and European conservation law to be compromised by the inappropriate use of byelaws at Loch Lomond.”

END OF QUOTE

But I now realise I shouldn't have quoted one of many possible examples.

I wanted only to stimulate a debate on the futility (as I see it) or otherwise (as perhaps others see it) of saying “it spoils things for the rest of us.” A futile debate maybe.

And maybe I'll stop at this one and not tell you what else cheeses me off.

if its that bad at loch lomond why would anybody want to park there in the first place and what makes me mad is people whinging about risking a fine while wild camping i park where i want and have done for a long long time and have never had any trouble ,exept from silly gits in hatch back cars thinking they own the place young drivers should be banned from driving at night untill they reach the age of 21 or untill they learn to behave .

Please maureenandtom, enjoyed every word, keep the cheesy off's coming BAZ. :p

When someone in a MH comes and parks 2ft away from your MH door in a very very large empty parking area, when I politely asked them why they had parked there, the answer was............... 'because your parked in our spot', ha, I almost peed myslef, bet they go in clubs and sit in the same seat every week.

Just had another cheesing off this morning while out with the dogs. Cyclists fly up behind you and whizz past within inches of you without any warning at all. There is plenty of room either side of the path which is grassy and smooth. I thought these were called 'mountain' bikes but apparently you cannot go over something resembling a lawn. :(

If you see them coming and move off the path, they never acknowledge the fact that you have moved over to let them pass. No smile or thanks. I have reached the conclusion that they are the worst mannered bunch of people on the planet.:mad:

What cheeses me off?? Oh, where to start!

I retired early because I was tired of fighting things that I thought were wrong and now I am trying very hard to be a serene as befits a lady of my years. After all, I don't want to be the one who spoils it for others.

People who say 'obviously' when it plainly isn't
