Because you can choose the thickness you want your thinner piece of wood to be ... I left my AD160 Planer Thicknesser in France last September when we sold up; how I could have used it today to reduce the thickness of the door strip, instead of having to sand the damn thing for half of the afternoon, and producing sawdust in copious quantities. The AD160 was almost identical to the Erbauer, but also had a second fence that could be set at up to 45 degrees to produce chamfered edgesalways fancied a thicknesser
one think I have never understood though .... why is a device that makes things THINNER called a Thicknesser?
