The first was, because of the muddy floor at the campervan storage after filling the watertank, i climbed in the cab and took off my dirty footwear and put them in the step, but unfortunately without me noticing one decided to jump out before I slammed the door shut. I only noticed when we got to Ingleton so had to spend all weekend in hiking boots.

The second, at some point on the way up to ingleton the fresh water drain pipe worked loose and we lost all 120 litres of water, so no shower that night. The next day I managed to cadge 20 ltrs from a local garage. Another saying is every "cloud has a sliver lining", what I have learnt is that I have more than 20Ltrs of water left in the tank when the warning light comes on and we can last all weekend on 20Ltrs if we are very frugal.

The third, this one I'm dreading, I could not get the parking machine to take £5 off my card for the overnight stops, so I'm expecting a parking fine through the post. But then in the morning the window vac battery was flat so could this be my 3rd. No worst still, We got home and the daughter had opened the loft window in the strong winds, It is one of those escape windows with sliding hinges, the wind grabbed it and snapped the hinges, so we need a new window. Bugger.

Some good news is, when we got back to the storage unit I found my wayward shoe bathing in a puddle.

You only need new hinges, surely?

Do you think I'll be able to get these off eBay.

I bet you can. Our French doors in the conservatory had a broken hinge for several years, one of 3 supporting the door, a chance remark to a local builder about it resulted in a replacement half to suit it. Not bad for over 30 years old. Try your local window replacement stockists.

I have used my phone before now to record trying to put money in or a card transaction just in case anyone asks why we didn’t pay.

As for the daughter and the window perhaps you could give her the bill for repairing it. Why did she want to open it anyway.

You can get the hinges reasonably easy. Got mine off eBay and use them on the side of the shed to hold a solar panel. Very useful as I can tilt it to face the sun as the shed wall faces south.

That happened to me at Christmas, so I checked the website and found a place to report a faulty machine. I received an automated reply with a Report Number. I scanned that automated report number reply and attached it to an email to the Local Authority telling them what had happened.

The upshot was that the machine had recorded my card number, the LA deducted the correct amount, and no fine was issued.

Maybe worth a try?
.

Hopefully it will have happened to others with the parking machine so they will know there was a fault.

Hate to say it , but have you thought maybe you are waiting for something else.....five so far....!!
