Thetford Toilet Pump

I decided to drain down the van (Adria Izola) to protect from frost, after draining I ran the pump to get rid of any dregs, all fine, I then ran the toilet flush to get rid any any still in the pump and the pump would not work. so I refilled the tank again and it works now, so, I`m wondering if anybody knows if the pump is pressure sensitive, or the switch operates the main pump, (Although I cant hear the pump running) or if the switch operates a valve which allows water to flow in the toilet bowl. The toilet is a C250, but it is the one without a flush tank. In the winter storage instructions for the toilet it says to "Follow the vehicles instructions for draining the central water system) I`m Baffled.

If it takes the water from the fresh water tank I doubt it would have a separate pump, it would not make sense for them to go to that trouble and cost, my Hymer only has one pump, I just press a button which activates the pump and opens the valve to flush the toilet

Cheers Tez, that could be the answer, when in normal use, tank filled, the toilet panel won`t light up or work unless the 12v is switched on and the water is switched on, and I just confirmed your logic, I could never hear the pump running at the rear of the van for the noise of the flushing. So the switch fires up the pump and it opens a solenoid valve at the same time, so operating the switch while there is no water should empty the valve.

Thanks Tez, another thing learnt today, along with,,,,,,,,,,,, always test the flush with the cassette in place and dont leave your test meter in the cassette compartment, LOL, now drying out on the radiator.

One thing I learned was to put a sign on the toilet seat when emptying the cassette when you have people staying with you, not nice:scared:
