Thetford C3 cassette toilet problem

The operating knob, which also controls the flush, has become very stiff to turn. This applies even when the cassette is removed so that is not the problem.
Any thoughts very welcome!

Try silicone spray ...

I have been suffering from the same problem. Very stiff and lumpy in operation. Tried lubrication which didn't really solve the problem. Mine is a C2 which is similar to yours. At times Joan had difficulty in operating the valve. We have two cassettes and it is the same with both. The cassettes open easily by hand when out of the toilet.

Ours had now gone sloppy in operation and is still lumpy. This happened in early November as we arrived in Spain and has been in daily use since.

This may help

C2 - C3 - C4

Have a look at the pdf for the mechanism

Hi Sagart
We had a similar problem were it become stiff and then eventually went loose and would.nt work at all .
if you remove the cassett and look where the release handle is ,(on ours the self tapping screw had come loose) and had offsett the mecanisam once tightend all was well:D

My thanks for the advice. Will try silicon after checking the control knob alignment , then Thetford's instructions on removing the mechanism
