The Toad has gone

Hi, well a sad day really, our old toad has joined the scrappage scheme, just could not resist getting £2000 for something I paid £600 18 months ago.;)

We now have a new Smart, and after giving Car a Tow a ring and them telling me it £463 to just fit the bracket to the car and wire it up, we decided to sell the A Frame and it made £370 on Ebay.:D So we now use a trailer, and the best thing is I have insured it with Saga attached and Detattched for £13 a year.:)

Might not be as easy as an A Frame, but thats the way we have gone.

But we never had any problems with the A Frame or towing with it in the UK and France. But some people seem to think if the car is under 7.5t you can use an Unbraked Frame, you cant, if you tow anything with brakes ( ie a car ) they must work. We put magnetic sticky back tape on the reflectors and also bolts from the back of the number plate and just wing nuts holding the second plate over it, and it all worked very well.;) Bob.

I like the idea of a trailer. Where do you put it on a campsite? Many of the French sites I have been too do not have pitches big enough to store a trailer

Hi, we have not taken it to France yet, but we stay on Aires in France and never had a problem with the A Frame, we use the big one's and van and trailer is under 11 meters, if space is a bit tight you can park on the trailer detached from the van. And only go over there out of season, we do the C and C Club Holiday Rallies here in the English summer, and there is loads of room.:D Bob.

:D they do in Suffolk. This is my house. ;) Bob
