The Scotland plan April?

Hi, had just the 1 trip with the family to test the water in my new van, great time and family loved it. Having done the North Coast 500 last year on my motorbike I am starting to dream about a trip up north in April (May/June are a bit busy work wise) on my lonesome. I don't want to plan much and as its my first time on my own I was hoping for a few pointers, cheers

I think mostly wild, probably for a week but I will use a site if I have to. I was blown away by the scenery last year but I was also very lucky with the weather which was just as well as I was biking. Doesn't really matter now though in the van

I'd just say don't try to do too much in a week and maybe stay around one area. April is a great time to do it, often good weather, much quieter than Summer and no midges. West coast has many great spots, as does Dumfries and Galloway or just head up to the Cairngorms. Great pois around Aviemore and Newtonmore.

Personally, I think you have answered your own question ... don't plan it, just wing it and travel as you feel like or stay where you fancy.

Why not try one of our Hebridean delights? Mull is a good place to start. Wildcamping and wildlife heaven.

We bought a AA road atlas (ones you get for less than a fiver in petrol stations)
Then drove along the West Coast looking for small out of the way dead end roads ending at the sea....
and avoiding big towns (lots of people etc)
And we found some fantastic unspoilt spots.
All that 500 business is fine if you like being a Sheeple BUT you miss out on some of the best bits imho.

i live in far north scotland,there are many places to wild camp,sutherland and caithness anywhere,is a good bet to wild,no one will ever move you on in these 2 counties,and for caithness where i live,there are many places beside the beaches old harbours ect ect,just go where you want,no tresspassing laws here,hope you enjoy,
