The new Hymer venture S

This really is different with many new ideas.

It is beautiful and based on their concept BASF van.

Personally, I don't like the idea of sleeping in the pop top, but I do like the design; it is so homely. The price tag means that not many of them will be about as there are much better 4x4 campervans cheaper than that.

Great looking van and I think it’s the way things are going. Aggressive off road (mudder) style seems the in thing at the moment.

Just in time for Mercedes dumping that 4x4 model and replacing it with a 4 motion, or 4 matic, whatever Merc call it.

Your gonna have to go full aftermarket now for a proper Sprinter 4x4.

How do you rate the MAN 4x4 van Mark?

Well it’s a lovely innovative van, and the quality looks superb, but the price tag seems on the steep side. I agree with Phil sleeping in a pop up ain’t much fun. To hot in summer, and Baltic in winter. But I take my hat of to the people who came up with some of the ideas. The shower set up was my favourite.
So you won’t be seeing me dishing out the £250,000 price tag. :(

Perhaps Phil could do one of his raffles on here :)

It’s 4 matic. But that’s been out for years mark.

Don't know much about the MAN, but I'm guessing it's the same system as fitted to the new Crafter?

So all done by torsen differential relying on traction control system to brake any slipping wheel, sending torque to wheel/wheels that may have traction.

Nothing wrong with these types of 4x4, much lighter, all automatic so very little driver input. Less chance of costly mistakes with dif locks etc. Great on snowy roads (probably better than conventional old school 4x4) and perfectly good for wet grass and tracks.

They will never be in the same class as an old school 4x4 when the going gets even a bit tough.

The new Sprinter will use a similar technology. I'd have to toss a coin if I were to choose between the new Sprinter and a MAN, although I really like the idea of having a MAN badged van, :) the new MAN's are fine vans indeed.

Still a market for conventional 4x4 otherwise Iglhaut wouldn't be flat out doing conversions.
And these are big money, your talking 50/60,000 Euro for a conversion, proper low ratio, 3 dif locks etc.

So for the man on the street more than capable with the right tyres. I knew the MAN and Crafter were the same but I think price difference would make the MAN more attractive.

That was my favourite too Bill.

I can see that being copied by a few manufacturers.
