Any stories about things that nearly killed you,
Heres one of mine

Was in the shed last year mig welding, REALLY BIG BANG !!! forgot about 12v car battery on charge about 3ft behind me that was bubbling nicely , sparks from welding had ignited gases and had blown top off the battery...
My fault for being a plank...
could have been a hell of a lot worse
Working as a driver on the railways for 27 years, I've had 5-6 very close shaves
most not my fault...

Too many to mention. :D

I should have been named 'Lucky'. Either that or I have the best guardian angel ever.

Flipping heck, Loads!

Most recent crashing the scooter at Christmas on the Ice, loads of bike and car crashes when younger including driving into the back of a curries van and waking up in an ambulance, putting a honda 650 through a hedge at 60 mph when it seized in the lakes, parking my first company car upside down in a tree in the lake district 2 days after getting it.

Fell off a harbour wall in Ireland and ripped my finger off and knocked myself out (rescued by drunken friends and boat hook)

Leaped across cauldrens snout water fall in Teesdale and nearly fell 100ft (for fun)

Was on a plane to ireland where the starboard engine caught fire.

Big car crash with Mrs D which involved being cut out of the car by fire brigade (my fault)

Got stuck on a trail bike 8000ft up a mountain in Crete and nearly lost it coming down (did same in Lefkas with Mrs D on the back)

The list goes on and on. Im off for a lie down.

Hi All
1967 working as a lagger in the dockyard at Chatham working with asbestos-blue and white--also overdosed twice stripping a reactor on the Valiant and the Churchill--it's a time bomb---still waiting for it to happen:(. They told us that it would not harm you (that is the asbestos and if we overdosed in the reactor we would never get cancer (that was from a surgeon commander).. there are lots more like this in my life. but the youngsters are bit more savvy now. thank God
Bye for now
Freddie:D

oops

took a step back to admire my work ... not the best thing for an industrial roofer to do ! 50ft later covered in mud with a shattered knee and bawling like a baby not my proudest moment but most probably my luckiest

During my misspent youth three of us were scrumping apples in a farmer’s field when he came out & chased us while shouting very loudly, nearly scared me to death.

I had a similar experience to you but got away with it.

I used to work all the hours God sent as an apprentice Fitter at Wearmouth Colliery. Most of the time I got outbye by putting an empty tub on the front of a full set. The loco started off and I discovered the tub I was in had at least one badly bent axle. It bounced all over the place and I was just waiting for it to come off the rails. The 50 or so full tubs behind me would have buried me. For over 3 miles I was crapping myself but it got to the shaft bottom and finally derailed on a curve when it was moving slowly. I had the height to jump out and that is exactly what I did. :D

I have been ill for most of my life and was rushed to hospital very sick when I was 30 years old I got better but was told not to make any long term plans because they doctors said that I would be dead before I reached the age of 35, well I was a married man with two young children so I took out insurance polices to make sure that they would be cared for when I was gone. My 35 birthday came and my 36, I am now 57 and still living although I can not walk very well and I am mostly in a wheelchair when I go out I am still breathing and enjoying what I can.

Hi BambiOwner

A consultant Anaesthetist once told me that the secret to eternal life was to keep breathing:)
