The Curse of the Bank Holiday in Britain

Well that time has come we us Brits get all pumped up and head off to our classic spots and yet again mother nature decides to water her garden.
Started off Friday, got to pitch by 8:30 (perfect timing for beer and BBQ) and being optimistic left our stuff out with the idea of waking up next morning to go off Fishing. Wake up only to find it pissing with rain and all the gear soaked!!

Let's hope that tomorrow brings better results.

Being retired bank holidays are the time we try to be at home  going to Stratford motorcaravan show on Monday for the week (when everybody else is heading home) :D

If it makes you feel any better its not much better in France. Yesterday in Normandy was grey and windy, today its ok ish. Still, Id rather be out in the van in crappy weather than stuck at home.

Yep the rivers are being topped up here as well.:( But luckily last weekend was the bank holiday in France, and it was a scorcher.:p
Bonne Weekend.
Nolly.

We tend to do a lot of away days we go on a Monday after visiting mother then we come back on a Sunday afternoon, when it comes to Bank Holidays we stay home and let the Sunday drivers have a good clear road.. We used to run a section of a motorhome club and we were tied down so now we have finnished with them we are able to do as we please when we please.

Huntly last night the rain was on all night lashing down it was :(:(
came home today in torrents:mad: got home to sunshine:confused::confused:
remember its Peterhead l live and its always crap weather here..

dunk

Well things improved slightly today. Overcast for the majority of it and the odd speckle of rain. Still had a nice pub lunch then a short run back to the site. Weather still holding off, so out with the BBQ on the last night all being well. However we are running low on Speckled Hen!

quit whingin' you lot!!!!! wished i could've got out!! but it is bank hols and i 8 em and up to me neck plasterin' a bungalow out!!!! neva mind watch out next week!!:):):)

weather yesterday was a pain, odd light showers until we decided to go for walk and it absolutely poored it down, drenching us all.

Today worked out better, took kids into skeggy for day, was lucky in that we was indoors (bloody arcades) every time it tipped down with rain and hale, sunny and warm when we was out and about.

Poor weather in Dovedale on saturday-not a problem?

Miss breakfast have brunch with a glass of wine, then a few more have a little sleep in the afternoon, wake up-rain stopped. Walk the dogs, light the BBQ eat and drink some more-prefect.

Sunday lovely and sunny, get up go for a 10 mile walk-lush weekend.

Looking for somewhere to stay close to Dovedale? Ilam Park National Trust caravan site, basic but in a lovely spot! No TV or mobile phone signals-heaven.

Since our recent retirements we are now doing things differently and stay at home during the Bank Holidays to avoid the crowds:D
We are also finding that we don't go away as often as we did (every second weekend) but when we do go away, we now go for longer periods
Works for us:):D

We are just retired and staying longer on rallies (Naturist) is brill but takes a little getting used to.........no time keeping and doing things s-l-o-w-l-y takes practise......:D:D:D
