This pub has a small field more or less opposite where last year we were allowed to stay for free. Nice little field to ourselves, with a gentleman's agreement to 'Have a few beers' in the pub by way of payment.......Fine, as they had a great selection of beers and ciders (all pull pump) not an electric beer in sight!
We have just enquired as to the availability of a place for this coming w/end.
The pub is now charging £10.00/nt.....£15 for electric (just one hook up available) The field has no water or toilets, you have to go to the pub for that.

Before anyone asks we are self contained so don't need the facilities, it just seems a heck of a price hike...

It was a great place to stay for free, but to charge £10 just to literally park in a field means it's now off our list. Sad, 'cos it's a great pub, but I 'aint being ripped off!!

Does that mean the car park is not available for overnighting?

Unfortunately, as far as I could ascertain during the conversation with the publican, yes it does......

Don't get me wrong, it's still a great place for a beer and or cider, being a very unique pub.
My wife and I (and the dog!) were made very welcome....... But sadly it now costs to do so.

I hope this doesn't come over as sounding a cheap skate, but I thought it a good idea to put folks in the picture.

I'll remove it from the Pub Stopovers in the POI downloads then ...

Thanks.

Before you take the ultimate step Chris, I wonder if a phone call to the pub might be in order just in case we caught him on a bad day!!

You never know, he might just change his mind......
Cheers,
Ron

Just tell him non of us will bother visiting and he'll lose shedloads of custom on the beer/food etc.

Or make it £5 a night + £2 hook up and we'll still come in for some beer.

He's bound to see sense.
