The van has passed the MOT this morning.:)

I do worry every time it goes in for the test but it is usually unfounded.I think it stems from the time when I took it in for the MOT and it failed on a blown headlight bulb which I had only just checked and so must have gone during the test. That's it for another year.;)

Most garages will just fit a new bulb, but even if it fails, you can fix it and take it back for a retest. Don't think it'd cost extra. Well, it wouldn't round here!

They probably would on a normal vehicle but to fit a new headlight bulb to Hymer A class you have to have been a gynacologist in a previous life.

Mot stations are gov run here and they cannot touch one thing, fail or pass, and a retest is £17.50,i know as i had 5 of them this year to get brakes on rear to balance.:scared:
Well prob was i was trying to bring low wheel up instead of reducing the wheel which was to high, the buggers of course would not tell me why and just hand you a fail sheet with print stating brake imbalance, sods.:hammer:

Yes well done steve, mot men are sons of the devil, glade you got sorted.

Glad your sorted.

My mot station is really good Trev. If anything needs doing they take me into the pit and explain in simple words what I need to do.

Well done Steve... now breeeeeathe :D

Ha ha,yes it's a bit like going for a check up with the dentist thinking everything is ok and then being told you need 6 new fillings and an extraction.:lol-061:

Tis a lovely feeling though when you get that new pass certificate in your mitts....:cool1::banana::drive::rockroll:

Mine passes yesterday with an advisory about underinflation of the back tyres. Its been a recuring problem and he suggests I get the wheel rims refurbished as the metal is beginning to flake. Has anyone had this done? The valves were changed in the summer.

Mine is in today. They've had it since 8 o'clock and haven't rung yet. I can't eat or concentrate, my fingernails are non existent. I don't know whether this is good or bad. Oh God.

Ah !! It's not just us then...ours failed on "rear brakes not balanced" and thought the mot man was making it up lol as not heard of it before !! However, he's a pure "tester" (no repairs) and apparently they have been instructed to tighten up on rear brake balance in recent times. I suppose it's important actually if you brake on a bend or slippery surface the back end could be all over the place !! Fortunately for us once the mot fail paid for my mechanic could take van back for as many retests as needed for free.....just as well. Took him three attempts including swapping the drums around and much fiddling to balance the rear brakes finally !! Poor Trev !!!

23 years

Now that is good when a van passes at 23 years ! Very good...Maja
