Allegedly from Lloyds but no as it was not personally addressed
Giving a link which I ignored (lloyds tell you to telephone)
Stated i had set up a new payee ..which I had not done.
Checked my payees ..No additional people/business accounts

I’ve had the same texts - 1 from Lloyds and another from Barclays. our bank accountisn’t either of these anyway!

ive also had several phone calls recently from ‘Scottish‘ numbers to advise me about consumer rights.....

Wife got one ph call on thursday, her second word was off before dropping the ph.

I've had several of those texts always a bank I've never had an account with, my bank will only contact me via letter or email but the emails never contain any links.

I have just had money put into my bank account by Citybank. Never used them and not expecting any repayment so what should I do?

If its in with out you giving details then either a bank mistake or other, in which case contact the bank or go in and ask/point out and get sorted, if just an email forget it.

Thank you, I have contacted my bank now and will have to wait and see. I can't get any information from Citybank as I a am not their client. Data protection stops me from finding out who to return it to!

Just had a landline call with a recorded message in an American accent. They kindly informed me that a lawsuit has been filed against me and I must get in touch with them on this number before it is passed over to the local county courthouse.

I suppose I'd better ring them before Boss Hogg sends the shurrf round to haul my sorry ass down to jail!

I had something similar with Nationwide. It turned out that it was somebody's housing benefit and the bank paying in had made a mistake in the account number. It actually happened half a dozen times before I got it sorted but the bank wouldn't give me details of the paying-in bank under data protection. They said they would contact them but it took several attempts before the mistake was corrected. I kept wondering, over the weeks that it happened, what on earth the proper recipient was thinking - they should have had money that was clearly badly needed and weren't getting it. Presumably they contacted the paying in bank too but whoever that bank was they were not very efficient.

As has been said, scam emails should be forwarded to report@phishing.gov.uk
You can't do that with texts though, which is the original subject of the thread. They can be forwarded to 7726 (which spells Spam on the phone keyboard!). This is a scheme set up by Ofcom. The mobile service provider should then deal with it - although Sky mobile don't seem to comply with it for some reason, they just get returned
