Telegraph article

Hello

Hi,
Just registered - Thanks Telegraph on Saturday (only paper I buy...lasts me all week!).
Bought our RV last year and have been to 'proper' sites - all very nice but not too exciting and a bit too "matching cardigans" for us. Didn't even know the term "Wild Camping" until Sat!!
As a newbie anyone got any tips?
Just gotta do this!
(PS how do you change the Avatar?? does it take a day or two to get used to me?)
Cheers
Roy

Welcome Roy :)

Full members here (just £15 per year) can download the Wild Camping Map & POI Files.

These cover England, Wales and Scotland, and with the next release in a few days will offer around 3,000 spots to choose from.

The download includes data to use with Google Earth when online (including Streetview links so you can see what the places look like), and POI files for almost all types of satnav.

Regards

Chris

Portsmouth Port/Brittany Ferries have agreed that motorhomes and caravans can stay overnight if waiting for an early ferry.

A well written article; short, concise and an excellent "plug" for Wildcamping to an audience that might have some influence on these matters.

after being on here for the last close on 6 years ,i have never been short of a free nights parking .as for tesco ,if you ask the manager at the store you should be able to stay overnight ,ok some may not let you, also asda have a policy of letting you stay overnight on there car parks ,it all depends on wether they own the carpark or not ,some do some dont . if i am not mistaken i do belive the asda at merther tydfill allows a overnight stay never used it personaly ,but have seen wagons parked up curtains closed on a night . unfortunately i am without a van at the moment ,but we will still stay overnight in the car at times so the wilding is not over yet although not quite as comfy as the van the car will serve ok
