I've just renued my tax disk online at

DVLA Vehicle Licensing Online | Home

Its the first time I've used this service, excellent service I did not have to walk up the post office in the snow and cold and its all on record immediatley that I have paid :)

Tax online

I always tax online, its so easy. They have instant records of insurance docs, mot. Hate going to post office, they now try to sell you allsorts, its a pain.
Anyway the post office is always full of old people who drive motorhomes!

................. :D

i always do it online save standing around in a post office . never yet had a problem

When I bought my Elddis, I got 6 months tax on it. I decided to renew online. I failed because they had no record of any insurance for me.

I phoned Caravanguard and gave them a bollocking for not putting me on the database. Of course they said they had but could not have.

ditto... I always do it online which is good as last year i had lost my MOT i couldn't find it anywhere, but you don,t need it online as it is all on their database....i did eventually find it two months later

If we lived in a town or were away travelling I'd certainly be doing it on-line, but as we live in a small village I like to support our local Sub Post Office and shop, anything to help keep it open...

Is Gloucester in Herefordshire then:confused::D

Always do mine online, saves a lot of hastle living out in the sticks:cool:

Happy Camping:)

When I tried it kept insisting that I didn't have any insurance  even though I renewed it in plenty of time. It seems the problem is if your insurance & tax run out on the same day (as mine did) it can't see the renewal just the existing policy. I even had the new insurance papers but it was still no use. In the end we had to walk the three quarters of a mile to the post office

Done it before on other vans & the motorcycle.

we do online also even when the post office is 2 mins away i carnt be bothered with the hassle of the post office and traffic wardens around

I've done it since it started, must be a few years now. I can never find my MOT/insurance certifcate, they are in the safe place I put them. Ican never rememebr where that safe place is a year later.
Great service, love it.

I think it's possible to tax your vehicle online after the 5th day of the month, ready for the 1st day of the following month. Gives you more time than the PO system, but can see why some like to continue to use rural PO's.

Happy Camping:)

Hi 177

I know what you mean about traffic wardens being a bugger but if the Post Office is only 2 minutes away, could you not walk it instead.

I am worried about the health of the nation after watching the Governments helpful adverts.

ps: Are you getting your 5 a day?

To check if you are on the insurance database look on this site.

This is still no good if you are currently insured & your insurance runs out the same day as the road tax as mine did. What happens is the system sees the current insurance but is unable to see the new insurance until after the 1st of the month, so it thinks you don't have any insurance from the 1st of the month:eek:. If I left getting the road tax until after the first of the month I would have been ok.
At least this is the explanation I was given.
