Is there a forum anywhere dedicated to motorhoming/camping for people intent on moving around so as not to be tax resident in any country? Asking for a friend you understand ;)

Don't want to discourage you (or your friend ), Rafiki.
You may move around from north to south pole; any EU government will trace you down; they are clever for collecting taxes :(

Thanks Belgium. But my friend understands that, until EU tax harmonisation occurs, taxes are paid to individual goverments not to the EU (thank goodness!) so one can make use of the tax free days allowed in each member state to be non tax resident in any country.

Be sure, they share every tax information in the easiest way. They will find your wallet (and empty it)!
The only countries where you can shop (some) taxfree are Switserland, Norway and Iceland. (all non EU-members) (and you get only a part of the VAT paid back)

this country has got us all by the short and curlys, for a start of you cannot even insure or tax a vehicle without an address or for that matter posses a driving license .so even traveling around earning a living is impossible even if you are paying taxes, as for dodging tax if you do you will soon end up with a permanent address beginning with h.m.p.:eek:

without a trace

In the papers today: ' 575.000 Belgians (of 10.500.000) are trackless' They simply don't know where they are. Social fraud or failing administration ?
They discovered 10 persons older than 140 years and 2525 older than 110 !
(Sturdy stock those Belgians  )
So Rafiki; come to Belgium and disappear LOL

Belgian: :D:D:D I have some Belgian friends that are very difficult to find at times so I'm not surprised!

Mandrake: An interesting thought . However having an address in a country and not being resident for tax purposes is quite common. I have an address in Spain but I don't pay my taxes there because I spend less than 183 days per year in that country. I have an address in UK and pay taxes there because I spend more than 90 days per year there.

You might try looking for the answers on some of the expat web sites such as www.angloinfo.com

It will come down to where you are considered 'domicile' -a legal concept. Mainly this is judged by where you spend most of the year -ie. more than 183 days. In the event you move around and don't spend more than 183 days in any one country it will be judged on where you have your fixed base -home address. The rules seem to vary from EU country to country.

A good summary from a UK perspective is at http://www.taxationweb.co.uk/guides/residence_and_domicile.php
