Tariffa Spain...any good?

Have been looking for somewhere to go over xmas for a couple of months and saw Tariffa in a couple of blogs. I know there is a campsite there torro de le pena. has anybody stayed there and if so what was it like? And secondly there are 2 beaches i can see ...Playa los lance and playa punta paloma. Anybody been to these and wildcamped anywhere? I have looked on google earth and cant seem to see any other vans about.
 
Yes we have stayed there twice, (Torro-de-le-Pena) we parked on the bottom site close to the beach, nice restaurant right on the beach do good food, shop sells a few bits, so if you plan on staying a few days, drive back just past Algeciers at junction 21 I belive is carrefour food hall, there is a big sign on the main road just check.
Has showers and (wc dump) on site, never been to the other places you mention.

Hi, We have visited Playa Los Lances every year for the past 16 years and find it suits our needs, however we only stop for 2 or 3 nights at the most as the lack of facilities can be a problem. There is a Mercadonna supermarket near the bottom end of Tarifa and a Lidl at the Algerceras end (taking the bypass is easier than driving through the town). Water used to be available further along the N340 in the country park but the cafe owner turned it off if he saw a motorhome filling up so I always carry enough for my visits. Dont be put off by the varied types of visitors as they are there purely for the kite surfing.
You may be put off by the strength of the wind though as it can be very windy.

Lol iIwouldnt be put off by the types there ,thats what has attracted me...if im not mistaken it is the hippie type?. If it is then all there better as far as im concerned.Just what im looking for , chilled and relaxing with no aires or graces.
But thank you all for the feedback. Its looking promising.
 
Ohhh just got a quote back from the site i mentioned. 21st december to 21 january 3 adults 1 small dog 6mtr mh 650 euros. Sort of restores my faith in wildcamping lol. Light the fire turn up the music and lets have a drink.
 
Anyone planning Tarifa please be aware the police were issuing 100 euro fines to anyone parked up on the square near the fire station . Still seems to be tolerated on the surfers beach and up by Lidl.
 
Tariffa has a large wildcamping congregation opposite the surf beach entrance, just need to settle in a sensible spot without treading on others toes.
The garage just off the main road entering the town from the North (surf beach side) provides 150L water for €3, (2020), as well ablutions dump.

A little further up the road there used to be field parking adjacent to the beach, North of the surf fraternity, entry beside a small food store / pub.
Called the "piggery" as it is a rough muddy entry.

We find the town very pleasant for a few days, although the gusting winds are problematic at times.

A location worthy of visiting.
 
Yes agree but think the "piggery" has been shut down or at least drastically reduced in size ,when we drove past last week. There is , I think, a legitimate aire in town although we did not look for it as 3 nights on the surfer beach was enough with a dump and fill at the garage.
 
The small parking area to the right of the ferry terminal is now closed
.They are redeveloping the area...
aire in center of town was cheap when we stayed as lidl was still closed. It's now open again.
