Talks back on for Rosyth to Dunkirk (not Zeebrugge) ferry?

Oops yes, senior moment! I was on the Zeebrugge ferry anfew times and got my memory mixed up with my optimism! 🤣

We can but hope (at least those of us who live at this end). But we've been here before, so I'm not holding my breath.

This could be great option...20 minutes from my door. But not sure if it would be affordable. Used the Newcastle to IJmuiden ferry a few times. Last time i looked the costs had skyrocketed. Mind you, so has the Britney ferry route from the south of England to north of Spain.

Hoping someone ( not me) will do the calculations.
I'm in Edinburgh so , I suppose, just basically cost of ferry from Rosyth minus cost of drive to Dover (+ cost of ferry from Dover) .

Plus the wear and tear on the vehicle and the more peaceful trip as you can get a sleep on the ferry.

I have visited Ireland the last two summers and would indeed relish the chance to go back but I don't think the cost of two ferries would be viable. Its a 12-16 mile crossing from Scotland to NI in 2 hours. It costs £400 return with a 7m motorhome. Meanwhile Dover to Calais is what? 35 to 40 miles and last time I paid about £80. What a rip off the Irish ferry feels. Not sure what the cost of Cork to Roscoff would be. My ferry trips to Europe have been: Summer. Dover to Calais or Newcastle to IJmuiden. Winter: South coast of England to north coast of Spain. I wouldn't want to go via Ireland in the winter.

We have gone Stranraer to Belfast then Rosslare to Santander or Bilbao a few times now. Yes, the cost from Scotland to Ireland is inflated, but you can use Tesco vouchers. The Rosslare to Spain leg is less than from England, and it's a considerably shorter drive than from here to Portsmouth or Plymouth. Factor in the wear and tear, time, extra nights and we found it worth it.

I'd need the savings of a pensioner and the stamina of a teenager to spend 36 hours with Britney ... :)

Interesting. Can you remember what you paid for the Rosslare to Spain leg?
