Wanted for driver door window winder mechanism 1990 Talbot express my one slipping any help or advice welcome;; Brandyman
It is not the caddy have fitted new one window slips after 3turns help it on a we bit then it works for a few more turns starts to slip again.

Hiya Brandyman;), It sound like its the window caddy thats rotted away(this is the rail that the glass sits in) ,I,ve seen them on Ebay for around £16.
I made up a new one using 15mm. copper pipe with a slit cut down the length of it, and riveted this to the existing holder.

Theres a long coil type runner which winds the mechanism up and down, over time and wear the grooves in the coil wear out and start slipping, especially in areas where its under most pressure. I discovered it recently with mine and am now on a hunt for it. Doesnt look easy to replace as the winder mechanism is right behind one of the door stays

Speak to Mike at No1 gear, he should have one,I replaced mine a couple of years ago it took about 30 mins and is not a difficult job.

Thanks for help managed to get parts for my van found a few vans being scraped told to help myself now I have a few spares for the future
