Taking booze INTO Europe?!

This probably seems like a daft question.....but is there a limit as to what booze you can take over to France/Spain/Portugal in your motorhome? We're off soon and are planning on self catering. I'm planning on taking some Pimms, Brandy & some Somerset cider - can you see any problems?!

It doesn't matter in which direction you are travelling.

There is no restriction whatever on duty paid goods provided it's for personal use.

The key words are duty paid - this means that the goods have been bought in an EU country and the local taxes paid.

Thanks for that, it's put my mind at rest. It sure is for personal consumption.....I don't intend on giving it away! lol

Thank you again. People think we are odd taking basic staple foods & booze, but everything I've got has been on special offer, so I've already had a bargain....plus I don't want to spend my hols in the supermarket :)

Then all you will need to worry about is getting stopped for a weight check.

Bear in mind that brandy is almost certainly cheaper in France ...

Friends of mine fill their car with booze, food and other goodies when visiting relatives in Ireland, recon things are very expensive over there - or their relatives are on to a good thing, getting them to pay for the ferry and get the shopping in??

We will be in France in 2 weeks time, where are you heading
to ?

Just so we can be near some of the wonderful cider. roflmao

Have a great time over there.

A few years ago we were stopped in the South of France by French customs and they wanted to search for booze and fags, we'd come from Spain and were probably more than 200kms from the border. We had thirty illegals stuffed in the shower cubicle but they ignored those :)
