Like my receipts idea I am just throwing this out there for discussion and not saying we should do this;

A tag team scenario where members join the convoy for 2 days or so and we weave our way down Britain over a few weeks, I suspect the word convoy immediately raised a negative reaction ( it should not travel bumper to bumper and how to park up for the night would need to be thought out and sensitive).

The event should be vlogged and shared as much as possible and local press invited to interview and councillors invited to discuss issues

It's an opportunity to show the press and authorities how self contained our units are, an opportunity to show them the bin bag of litter we picked up from that stop over location and an opportunity to tell them where we have put money into communities and share our thoughts in general. Maybe people might come up with ideas how to make the event 'eye catching'

It might also be quite fun which is always a bonus

Problem is same as usual, people may think its a good idea, but also experience tells us that any time we put ourselves in the public eye it brings negative publicity for our cause. Hence most people seem to want to stay low profile & off the radar. Things won't change until we are seen as something separate from tenters etc, then we might be viewed differently.....

I am going to play devils advocate purely for the sake of discussion;

How can we be seen as something separate from tenters unless we are seen?

The negativity I suspect is at an all time high and we have very little to lose

I have seriously been thinking of putting a Do Not Litter or Camp Responsibly or some such on the MH, the only thing stopping me is my aversion to stickers in general, I don't even want to display the W sticker.
Guess it is separating ourselves from the 'dirty campers' in some way.

How about all responsible campers wear mankini's?:unsure: the ladies can go au naturel.

I think the best sign I've seen is "Take only photos, leave only footprints". The above would take some organising though.

just like to add that with respect to the growing members of the public showing unwelcoming behavior that if one of the National papers decide to run a negative article then we are in serious trouble, especially if it is 'The Daily Hate Mail'

A whole winter of organising for next year, but even if just half of the people on this site that demand action to protect our rights got involved that is a good number. I am not suggesting that we do anything that we don't already do ie countryside walks, pub lunches etc the difference being that there should be just a little publicity in local papers etc.....maybe just a few members of the public, a few councillors ect might question their attitude

what I am envisaging (I appreciate that I live in a location that makes this easy)

The tag team that turned up at Todmorden, for example I could easily spread 7 vehicles across 4 overnight parking spots that were suitable. I could recommend the most suitable pub where we were not taking over their car park (unfortunately in this case its not the best pub) for an evening meal and invite the local paper and a town councillor.

At best someone turns up and we can discuss our concerns and the benefits we offer communities when we are welcomed, at worse nobody turns up................but the WC tag team saw a bit of the south Pennines, met some other members and enjoyed a pub meal. I would then join the tag team for the next section and get the same experience somewhere else for one or two nights.

I am not even endorsing this idea, I'm just trying to think of something different to letter writing and keyboard bitching and hoping this might morph into an idea that has some legs as people provide input
