SYM Motorbikes, Serious Recall

My Grandson has a SYM Motor Cycle and has been notified of a serious recall on it, the recall affects 50 cc and 125cc bikes and involves welds on the chassis, these welds are breaking causing the complete failure of the bikes frame.We took the bike to our local dealers Yesterday and they said they had to impound the bike as it could fail in use and be Dangerous, we did not allow them to impound the bike but it is locked in my Garage and out of use, we are now in battle with SYM as parts are not available till at least the end of the month ,so Grandson is without his bike and needs it to get to College etc, So if you have one of these bikes be aware of the danger.

keep note of phone calls and time spent and cost because if i gets nasty then you have everything writen down not trying to remmebedid you or did not ring them try and get name of person and where they are and extra expenditure due to lack of use as it is not fit for purpose

Thanks for the info Vindiboy. We've got a Sym 125 which we use for getting about on when mh is parked up. We've not had a recall so can I assume its a particular batch or year? Sorry if this is a stupid question. My hubby is out at the moment so I'll mention it to him when he gets home.

Thanks for the info Vindiboy. We've got a Sym 125 which we use for getting about on when mh is parked up. We've not had a recall so can I assume its a particular batch or year? Sorry if this is a stupid question. My hubby is out at the moment so I'll mention it to him when he gets home.
