AS A BUMPER FINISH RESTORATION TREATMENT.
I've known of this for years but never tried it until today.
There was a little bit at bottom of the jar ,although a bit on the dry side I decided to give it a try.
The front bumper was quite a mess .
I applied a little with a cloth, rubbed in the p. butter.
The oils in it put a shine to Black surfaces.
Made a big improvement to its
20 year old appearance.
Doesn't wash off for some time.
I used it on front bumper ,
both mirrors and door handles.
Note the dull untreated side panels.

Works similar to any oil based substance rubbed in ....

Timescale before needing re application is usually short ...

The reason for greying plastics is down to the volatile oils being removed by environmental conditions and UV degradation ....

Use of heat on the plastics to bring the volatile oils to the surface usually lasts longer BUT can leave the plastic brittle and susceptible to damage .

I had never heard of these "treatments", on our first van, I got a shade card from B&Q and picked a vinyl sample up, I put it on with a used washing up sponge, looked like the original, it was still on two years later, I've only just thrown the tub away it's been used on a few vans over the years, but this vans are the posh gloss painted ones.

Plastic bumper and trim paint is the way to go it takes a bit longer but lasts. I tried all the others and they either don't last or look blotchy to me. 3 year since I did mine and it still looks good.

I’ve been thinking of doing ours when I get some time and some spare energy - and the weather warms up a bit.

Is there any particular trim paint you might recommend, Faze? 🤔

I applied the sun pat peanut butter to the window rurounds .
It cleaned them up and restored thr Black colour .
It was then I noticed I had gotten a little sun pat on the plastic window .
I tried to rub it off but discovered it had also cleaned the perspex and removed some rain marks.
Anyway I treated all the perspex camper windows and surrounds .
Plus all the bumpers for about £1.00.
Rain runs off the windows now.
