New MH seems to like getting stuck or is it just that it's been a bit wet. The tyres are road tyres and just leave grooves as you try to move. Doesn't help being an automatic.

Had a look at new tyres for the front but not much with a good tread pattern.
Had a look at snow chains but you need to fit them before you get stuck.
Tried Milenco Mats but tyres don't grip if muddy.
Got some ladder racks but you need to get the wheels on them first.
Thought of a jack as well but you need something low.

Then I found these Home - Tired of Tire Chains? Advanced Traction Systems, GoClaws, SnoClaws, SnoBootz, Inventor Tony Bright

Had a look at their site and looks like it could be a better bet as they look really easy to fit even if you are up to your armpits in the goooooo.

If anyone else is interested we maybe able to get a better deal even if we save on the postage. Going to order some anyway.

well good luck with that I will stick with my bread tray bases and a bit of forethought.

I got some bread delivery boards cut out the base and made them to the tyre width put them into a black back and keep them on the bike rack or cubby, they work a treat and cost nought

Another vote for bread trays - worked a treat when I got stuck.

Walk in first, if in doubt, don't. Then get your bread trays out. Failing that get the wife to get her shoulder into it. Lol.

I have a simpler approach - I don't drive (or park) on grass. :danger:

go where you want-get stuck if you like, just carry a rope. tie it onto the van, make a cuppa and wait for a tractor or 4x4 to pass by . i've been stuck many times and never waited more than an hour .

Thanks for all the replies. Biggest problem seems to be the auto box. Great for normal driving but a bit of a sod on wet grass. Got some Landrover Racks and if it looks ifffffy park with front wheels on them. It's the unknown that gets you. Bit of rain. Grass a bit wet. Back wheels sink in a bit and bingo. Old Swift was second gear and slip the clutch.

Anyway bit the bullet as they say and ordered some.

Will let you know.

Always park on bins or what your buying, mine sinks terribly, the morning dew gets me stuck. I always walk the route and park where I can be towed easily or not at all if it's to bad :(
Learnt the hard way with damage to my bus :(

Last time we got stuck it was a rope round the back axle. My fault really. SWMBO wanted the MH round the other way so off I went to turn round and drove straight into a bog. Not the only one that week. Campsite has one area that never dries and I was in it. Guy from the site very happy to tow me out and made sure that tow rope fixing on his 4x4 was as low as possible. Even turned it round as the chassis fixing on the front was lower than his tow ball on the back.

..

You must have the same problem as us .. To much weight ... :( :( :(

Must send MH to Weight Watches .....

I'm always on the lookout for something that is easy and cheap, but looking at the fitting video's they don't seem any easier to fit than plain snow chains. If you note they show them being fitted on solid ground, not after sinking in.
Twice I've sunk in after being directed by site owners, never again, I make my own decisions now, esp. after the last time when it took a 4x4 and a tractor coupled together to get us out.
I do have a pair of cheap traction mats from aldi, these proved to be very good when getting out of a deserted wet ,grass on clay, carpark, but then we didn't sink just completely ran out of grip on a slope.

Got stuck once in a wooded area and borrowed a hand chain winch on the trees to get me back to the entrance gate...it took many hours of winching.
I now have an electric portable cable winch on board, which can be powered from the front vehicle battery or a rear electric connector in the garage of the motorhome.
Don't really want to get stuck though, just to test it out in the mud!!!!

I've considered getting an electric winch but knowing my luck would 100yrds from anywhere to attach it.

Has anyone tried Snowsocks in mud?

I have a set but never had to use them yet. Hadn't bought them at the time I was stuck in mud and had a breakdown truck not risk getting stuck himself but winched me off while he was parked on solid road. £66 quid poorer.

Slight tangent, i used to play stuck in the mud at primary school. For the life of me i can't remember the rules
