It seems even waterproof siren units are at the mercy of the wet stuff. When i entered the Swift yesterday without disabling the alarm ,the siren sounded but was barely loud enough to even register and scare the most timid of thieves.Apart from this lack of volume the alarm seemed to be functioning normally. My first thought was water ingress after all the rain we have had over the last couple of days.
The unit looked dry and had the markings on it saying that it was sealed and waterproof.
So a bit of headscratching began.
I decided to remove the unit anyway and as i did so a quantity of water ran out from the underside/speaker part of the siren. This seemed to do the trick and the unit became as deafening as it was before. I have used the alarm all throughout the winter without trouble and have come to the conclusion that it must have been due to the large puddles/flooding that i had to drive through during our wet weekend away.Water splashing upwards into the engine bay can obviously render the waterproof Strikeback siren less than perfect.Apart from this im very happy with the Strikeback.
This is just my conclusion...does anyone have any similar experiences.Thanks.Rob
