Got a fridge freezer and the freezer stinks like an undertakers convention

Any suggestions please - I have tried Bicarb of Soda and something stronger seems to be called for

stale cats piss will work, but for something a little less aromatic ......
maybe try a rub down with white vinegar.
& leave a box of bicarb in there for a few days.
hth.

been told to try a lemon cut in two .
leave fridge door open to stop it when not using it helps keep it from smelling

Yeah clean with lemon and or vinegar. But importantly when you park up make sure that you dry out the fridge and the feezer and leave the door ajar

Lost power in the house one year when we were away, so I know exactly what smell your talking about :( we got back ten days later

Slice up about 3 lemons into 12mm (half inch old money) bits, rub around all surfaces and leave inside for a couple of days.

it all depends how well you clean it
we always left the door open , but on one occasion my daughter cleaned it SCRUPULOUSLY , then shut the door

three months later , opened up , no trace of any smell
you just have to be prepared to put in the time and effort , I am in charge now , and it takes me about an hour ...but no more smells ; to be fair I strip all the fittings and the boss processes them indoors :)

Another suggestion if above not sufficient:

You could try cleaning with washing soda crystals, ( it used to be big crystals, today it is more like powder !). Not sure it is still called crystals actually - might just be 'washing soda'.

Dilute several heaped tablespoons full in a small bowl very very hot water. Whilst water still very hot, wash out and also scrub into corners of freezer section and any other bits that have little crannies with washing up brush or even a tooth brush (if you have an old one she swiftly adds).

Leave it unrinsed for a while before washing out and wiping clean. Repeat process twice if not smelling sweeter. Try removing the door and cleaning that - I suspect it is all in the crevices at the sides and back.

I always leave fridge door open and ice tray wedged in the freezer door opening to keep it all open when not in use. Even if just a week.

Have a good clean of the seal, mould and other stuff sets up home there.
And as allready said, leave the door open

right, an update: washed with Bicarb, then left loads of Milton sloshing around in the freezer. Cleared that up after 4 hours and left lemon in unit
No stench anymore :D

Many thanks everyone
