Sticking up for the Stig

I've noticed a few posts on this and other sites discussing the Stig, and his right to out himself. Can I put forward the argument that Big gob, Stumpy and Captain Slow all make considerable sums of money on the back of their respective careers on Top gear, with book deals, public appearences etc. Can't argue that Stig should be allowed the same rights, surely?

Depends what his contract was with the BBC i suppose.

So if for instance you accept loads of money to play a mysterious faceless character, then you shouldn't reveal your identity? What an interesting concept... :D

If your your contact states you should NEVER reveal your identity ( and you accept that cos you are getting paid shed loads of money to compensate) then no you shouldnt reveal your id . if on the other hand you only have to keep quiet during the term of the the contact ....thats fine
so it depends on the contract
i will miss the stig ...he talked more sense than all the others :D

Just following his script - like the others...:D

Yeahh, old Stiggy was good, but he took the kings shilling so he should have honoured his contract.

He made a lot of money out of the fact he was anonymous after all.

I am not sure of this correct so don't quote me

Top Gear did a "speshule" for broadcast in America only. The broadcasting rules in the USA specified that "The Stig" had to have his proper name, Ben Collins, shown on the credits. This was some time before his identity was generally known in the UK although his identity was a source of much P. taking in the Mess at 23SAS, He was "in" for some 4 years
