hi all, spent all my funds..and some of hers...buying all i needed to set tv up in the campervan, now i find i carnt afford to buy a new one, anyone out there got a second hand one laying about so she can watch corrie or she is theatening not to come.....???....naw i couldnt:rolleyes:

If you are talking about aerials, try Maplin. Another alternative (like I did) is to buy a second hand Sky digibox and Sky dish (cheap as chips) get a small invertor (Maplins again) and run it off 12 volts. Make sure you get the remote with the box.

If you have a DVD, set it up to record her favourite programmes while you are away and you are covered for the earache that is inevitable. I know the feeling mate.

Do you mean digital? I just got an end of line Bargain from Maplins - Digital TV but not wide screen (who cares!) Only £80 for 10" LCD with all the bells and whistles.

Maplins seems to be the place and if you use the catalogue with money off vouchers you can get another 10% off.

hi all, sorry i did,nt make myself plain on what i am looking for (still on the xmas booze) i bought my self a tv etc and now i am looking for a second hand status or maxview digital aerial (omnidirectional) for the roof.
posting this in the hope that someone my have one they want to sell.
thanks all,happy camping john

The Status aerials (315 and 530) are not cheap. If you are happy with a one that is not roof mounted, the caravanners are using a good one (cannot remember the make), they say they are good and are only about £25. You will see them in accessory shops at dealers etc.

I have a 315 Status which is poor for reception. I am only keeping it because when the country is fully digital, the signals will be boosted by a factor of 10 and it should work OK.

Why not buy a bog standard aerial for caravans(about£20) Maxview do one called the Gold. I used it on my Hymer fixed to a short length of aluminium pole fixed to the ladder with bungees. It was adjustable for both vertical and horizontal polarisation

DON'T bother with a Status Omniview - the Frizbee looking one with the little rubber duck aerial in the centre as they're CRAP!!!!

However the 'W' wire type are very good for the size and prize, and the Status 535 is superb! But we're now talking of as much as the TV!

If you're on a budget a normal house type aerial with a pole to clamp on the towbar or with brackets to fit the awning rail, mirror arm, bodywork etc is a cheap directional option.

thanks all for your suggestion, carnt put a pole for a ordenary aerial on the back of the van because of the doors opening...but i can make a braket to fit on to the front bumper to take a 3 mtr ally pole braced to my wing mirrors ALSO am going to mount on the roof a 4 mtr section of 5 inch of plastic downpipe blanked at 1 end and some kind of lock at the other to stow the 3mtr ally pole in AND my fishing rods which have always been a pain to stow.
two probs solved in 1 hit....buy you all a pint if i see you (to share between you with 1 straw)
MANY THANKS TO ALL john

hi all.some good ideas floating about here, due to doors opening at the back i have no room to mount there,so i am macking a bracket to mount on the front bubper to take a 3mtr..ish ally pole, this will then guy to my wing mirrors.
now the good bit,i am also going to mount on the roof a 4mtr..ish 5 inch wide lenth of plastic downpipe, with a blank at 1 end and some kind of lock on the other, this will stow my aerial pole AND my fishing rods which have always been a pain to stow
thanks to all and i will buy you all a pint if we meet(all share the same straw though)...cheers john
