Many have already posted in favour of this.
I am moving some funds to Thailand.
I used to use "worldfirst" but they now only deal with business accounts
I have just sent a test amount to a new bank account (in Thailand) From Starling
The FX rate is good (better than Lloyds) and they only charge £5.50 per transaction (again better than Lloyds)
Ok the transaction fee becomes negilgible for large amounts.
There is a daily limit of £10,000. No problem. I very rarely need to move more and you can do further payments the next day (Mon to Fri) The exchange rate and fee are displayed before you push the "Go ahead button"
So far so Very Good !
Those whose main need is Euros probaly know you get a euroaccount automatically and so you can move funds to that account when the exchange rate is favourable.
Also handy for those who spend time in Euroland but have their own currencies (Denmark)

Nothing but praise for Starling. Absolutely top notch.
I may have posted this on here before, but when buying fuel abroad, I get a text message telling me how much I have just spent in Euro and Sterling BEFORE the cashier gives me the til receipt. After the transaction, you can switch your card off, so it’s useless to anyone who decides to Nick it. Brilliant!

Just had a quick read-up about Starling.

They sound like a pretty good banking option all round if you're a big smart phone user (y)

Anyone wishing to transfer monies please let it be known that I can take it all through my acc, very small return mind you if any. :)

Thanks
Not sure but Torfx just does money transfers ?
Fine but Starling is a bank so all the usual. Plus ie free debit card use (purchases and cash) abroad with no surcharges. It may be that Torfx might be marginally better for this one -off transaction. I have looked at them before but not for me !
As I posted i used "WorldFirst" before (similar tto TorFx ?) and they served me well....They no longer deal with individual clients..So Starling seems to a good replacement with similar rates for fx and more functions (as per most banks!0
So having opened a Starling account for Euroland and indeed Canada (Ha Ha..Covid put paid to that)
I opened an accunt for use in Canada and Europe..the FX facility being a huge bonus (for us)
I am happy to keep starling and use for
  • internet purchases
  • some motorhome bills by FPI (direct transer) eg insurance and tax and servicing/MOT
  • transfer to Thailand
  • cash in Euroland and Norway/Sweden (Ha ha again)
Each to their own but "Suits me Sir !"

I’ve been with Starling since it launched several years back and opened a euro account as soon as they became available to private individuals, as we go (or rather used to go before COVID came along) to France every year. I am really impressed with them and love the way you get a text immediately you spend anything on the card. I even get a small interest payment every month on the UK account. Highly recommended.
